Today Let’s meet Toolseeta, project manager at Esokia for 2 years!
What is your educational background?
First, I did a Bachelor’s degree in information systems and then a master in informations systems management.
What is a project manager? What do you do?
As a project manager, I am in charge of a specific project or projects within the company. I am the one who plans, budgets, monitors, makes a planning, manages a team. To manage a team means also to manage a planning; to note who is missing etc…We also have to ensure that the team is efficient and motivated.
Anything that has a start and a finish, resulting in a product, is a project and requires the oversight and leadership of a project manager.
Part of the plan is defining the project’s scope and determining what resources are available, estimating time and financial commitment , as well as how to monitor and report on the project’s progress.
I make sure the scope of the project is sound, reporting regularly on the progress and that is staying on the approved schedule.
What is difficult in your job ?
To maintain the team spirit and to be patience with the client. Customer relationship is crucial, a client must be satisfied with the services provided.
I also have to manage many projects at the same time, which is quite difficult.
What do you like most?
to communicate with people, which can be stressful, as well as agreable.
Anything you don’t like?
I find it very difficult when I don’t have a lot of specifications from a client. Sometimes we miss something because his explanations were not clear enough for us.
On which project are you working?
We are working on Starafrica; Orange wanted to offer a website built for african users, and of which they would be the heart and soul. An important part of this website is about Football and there is a lot to do: World cup is coming soon! We have to be ready!
